Patchwork

A wall built out of hundreds of small hand-laid rectangles in warm gold, with a single black line drawn across the white walls that meet it.

The texture is made by hand, one mark at a time, so no two patches are the same width or quite the same tone. Up close it reads as brickwork or mosaic; from the far end of the hallway it reads as one warm surface.

The black line is the counterweight. It runs across the plain walls and stops where the texture starts.
