Bamboo
Window

Bamboo thinned almost to a shadow, hanging into a painted circle on a bedroom wall.

The ink is heavily diluted so each leaf reads as a wash rather than a line. Against a warm pink wall anything darker would have felt heavy, and the point was for the branches to look like they are seen through something rather than drawn on top.

The circle is painted, not applied โ€” a single arc struck on the wall and then worked over until its edge is clean.
